The all-new 2025 Mustang GTD is officially the most powerful production Mustang ever created by Ford. With an incredible 815 horsepower, 664 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 202 mph, this street-legal supercar sets a new standard in Mustang performance.
Pushing the Limits of Mustang Performance
Built to deliver record-breaking speed, the Mustang GTD features advanced technology like active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and an inboard rear suspension with semi-active dampers. These innovations are designed to help the GTD achieve its goal of a sub-seven-minute lap time at the Nürburgring, one of the world’s most challenging tracks.
“We’ve been laser-focused since day one to make Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang GTD. “Its heart is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, offering more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”
Advanced Engine Design for Maximum Power
At the core of the Mustang GTD’s performance is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, a significant upgrade from previous Mustang engines. It is the first Mustang to feature a dry-sump oil system, which ensures proper lubrication even under extreme cornering conditions. This system also allows for a slightly higher maximum engine speed of 7,650 rpm, up 100 rpm from earlier versions. Additional enhancements, such as a revised intake and exhaust system, a standard titanium exhaust, and a smaller supercharger pulley, help achieve its remarkable power output.
Aerodynamic Mastery for Optimal Performance
The Mustang GTD is designed not just for power but for precision and control. Its Drag Reduction System (DRS) adjusts the angle of the rear wing and activates flaps under the front of the car to fine-tune the balance between speed and downforce, depending on driving conditions. This advanced aerodynamic setup ensures that the GTD remains stable at high speeds and agile through tight corners.
“We’ve combined the work of talented engineers and designers, as well as an extremely capable driver, with Mustang GTD’s technology, power, and aerodynamics,” added Goodall. “We can’t wait to deliver on our sub-seven-minute promise to GTD customers.”
The 2025 Mustang GTD represents the pinnacle of production Mustang performance, delivering supercar capabilities while retaining the unmistakable spirit of a Mustang.
